Spot the Change: chess visual memory
The board blinks, and a single move has been played. Work out what changed and tap it before the clock runs out.
How it works
- Look at the position. The board blinks and one move has been played.
- Tap the piece that moved, on its old square or its new one.
- The move is replayed on the board so you can see what you missed.
- The clock only runs while you search. Skip and Show solution cost extra seconds.
What it trains
Strong players notice small changes in a position instantly, such as a new attacker or a piece that left a defence. This drill trains that noticing with real positions.
Questions
Does this help in real games?
Spotting what your opponent's last move changed is the first step of every good decision, so yes: it is the habit this drill builds.
Are the positions from real games?
They are plausible game positions, so the pieces sit as they would in play.
